Cyprus Yellow Slip
Cyprus Yellow Slip (or Certificate of Registration) is applied by European Union (EU) and European Economic area (EEA) citizens in order to write in for work, to stay or live as visitors in the Republic of Cyprus. Holders of Yellow Slip in Cyprus have the same rights as Cypriot Citizens, full rights of stay and re-entry in the country, work and engage in business activities. There are 2 different types of application forms between European and non-European citizens and their families.
The overall period from the submission of the application to the issuance of the certificate, is approximately 4 months from the entry day into the Republic of Cy.
EU citizens application form: MEU1
EU citizens and their family members who are also EU сitizens can apply with the MEU1 form. The Yellow Slip can be issued immediately or within 5 days maximum, directly from the immigration unit of the town that the application is made and the applicant lives.
The Certificate of Registration for EU сitizens does not expire.
Non-EU citizens application form: MEU2
Non-European Union citizens who are family members of the applicant are able to apply with the MEU2 form. This procedure takes about 3 to 5 months and in this case, the certificate is issued by the Civil Registry and Migration Department in Nicosia and once it is issued the applicant will receive it by post. Upon submission of the application, citizens are allowed to stay in Cyprus. If they wish to return to Cyprus from travelling abroad, they must provide to the airport the application receipt.
The Certificate of Registration for non-EU family members has validation of 5 years, and on expiry the applicant can apply for renewal.
How to obtain a Registration certificate
- MEU1 & MEU2 application forms duly completed
- Valid copy of passport
- Marriage Certificate – If applicable (*)
- Children Birth Certificates – If applicable (*)
- Certified Rental / Sale agreement of a house / apartment by Muhtar or a notary public & stamped at tax office (1-year agreement)
- Bank statements of a bank account in Cyprus or abroad – if applicable
- If working abroad: Confirmation letter and payslip from employer
- If working in Cyprus:
Confirmation letter from employer
b. Social Insurance Registration and annual income certificate
c. Signation of the application form by the Employer
- Health insurance – if working abroad
- Passport photos x2
All above documents with (*), are required to be translated in English and be apostilled OR to be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country that will issue them and by the Cyprus Embassy of such a Country.
Application fee when both applying for the first time or when renew is €20 for each family member.
